The National Sci-tech Program Road Show (Optics Valley of China session) kicked off on Feb 25 in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC).
The event was organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Hubei Provincial People's Government, participated in by entities such as the China Technology Exchange and Shanghai Technology Exchange, and attended by senior officials from Hubei, Wuhan and OVC governments.
This was the first time for the road show to be held on-site, and involved a total of 163 cutting edge sci-tech projects in the fields of optoelectronic information and life and science. The road show livestream was viewed more than 625,000 times, and at least 56 projects found potential investors.
"I came all the way to Wuhan from Beijing to get to know more investors and business partners in the healthcare industry," said Liu Wei, a team leader at a Beijing-based company committed to the development and application of gene therapy.
Remarkable achievements have been made in China's science and technology transfer. Last year, the nation saw 773,000 technical contracts signed involving 4.78 trillion yuan ($686.89 billion), increases of 15 percent and 28 percent, respectively. Among them, 93.7 percent of technologies were developed and 82.8 percent of technologies were applied by corporations.
