Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province plans to construct a "465" modern industrial system, according to a press conference held by the Wuxi municipal government on Feb 14.

By 2025, the city's four landmark industries and six competitive industrial clusters are expected to generate a combined 2.6 trillion yuan ($379.41 billion) in operating revenue, while the five future industries are designed to maintain a more than 15 percent year-on-year increase in annual operating revenue.

The internet of things, integrated circuit, biological medicine, and software and information technology service industries in Wuxi boast complete industrial chains and strong competitiveness. They will be further developed into landmark industrial clusters with international influence.

The city's high-end equipment, high-end textile garments, energy conservation and environmental protection, new materials, new energy, and auto and parts (including new energy vehicles) industries have a relatively solid foundation and competitive edge in China. These industries are projected to gain a higher market share in China by 2025.

Wuxi also has some foundations in the five promising future industries – artificial intelligence and metaverse, quantum science and technology, third-generation semiconductors, hydrogen energy and energy storage, and deep sea equipment.

To achieve these targets, Wuxi authorities will implement policies to construct characteristic industrial parks, ensuring the clustering of key industries. The city plans to build more than 50 such industrial parks by 2025.

Wuxi will also ramp up efforts to attract relevant high-tech, leading, and headquarters projects and set up work groups, consisting of representatives from government departments, industrial parks, industry associations, research institutes, think tanks, and key enterprises, to be responsible for the development of key industrial clusters.
