Silk Show Town wins provincial honor

Silk Show Town, or Suzhou Embroidery Town, in Suzhou New District, was recently named a provincial characteristic town by the Jiangsu Development & Reform Commission.

The town was built by SND Group and the Ecotourism Resort in Western Suzhou to promote Suzhou embroidery.

Suzhou embroidery, a national intangible cultural heritage item with a history of more than 3,000 years, originated in Zhenhu town in SND. In 2021, Zhenhu town Su embroidery was selected as part of the second group of geographical indications of both China and Europe.

Zhenhu town is the "hometown of Chinese embroidery art" and a demonstration base for the national cultural industry. The town has given rise to nearly 100 senior art professionals and more than 8,400 employees in the embroidery and related industries.
