This red-lacquer brush pot with a five-petal-shaped mouth is delicately designed. Five kinds of flowers, namely the narcissus, sweet osmanthus, plum blossom, chrysanthemum and orchid, each with a poem composed by Emperor Qianlong (r. 1736-1795), are carved in separate panels on the outer sides.
This unique lacquerware is from the permanent collection of the Palace Museum.
