The Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone – located in Hefei city, capital of East China's Anhui province – plans to build new formats for its industrial parks.

These will combine standard architectural formats with what the designers call "people-centered" features that will include the provision of more green space, entertainment venues and fitness centers.

Hong Shaojun, designer of the Shenggu Industrial Park there, said they had mapped out an open space with such facilities and support services. Hong said he and his team had made full use of the public space at the entrance and exit of each building.

For example, they fashioned the green landscape into large levels or steps that could be used as a stage for small-scale activities.

Hong explained that the park would offer apartments to talent and set up indoor basketball courts, badminton courts and table tennis halls.
