Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, put 11,899 5G base stations into use and achieved full 5G network coverage in urban areas and townships and basic coverage in key villages in 2022.

Enterprises in the city also made progress toward digital transformation. Taiyuan Boiler Group, Shanxi Coal Mining Machinery Manufacturing Co, and Taiyuan Distillery took the lead in trying to build a secondary identification resolution node of the industrial internet in their respective industries.

To promote the integrated development of new-generation information technology and manufacturing, Taiyuan organized training sessions. Last year, the city became home to 41 new enterprises reaching the standard of the management system for the integrated development of new-generation IT and manufacturing.

The city promoted 5G coverage in key places such as Jinci Temple, Tianlong Mountain scenic area, and the Taiyuan Institute of Energy Materials of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and strengthened 5G site selection planning and 5G network sharing in public areas.

Currently, 36 percent of the city's residents are 5G users, and all urban households have access to the gigabit optical network.
