Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province recently received recognition from the Ministry of Transport and National Development and Reform Commission for developing into a city of green travel.

"Green travel" refers to travel with minimized environmental impact, including the use of public transport, walking, and cycling.

Since starting construction on a green travel city in 2020, Wuxi has prioritized public transport and eco-friendly travel.

The percentage of people who travel in an eco-friendly way in the city has reached 70.1 percent, and the satisfaction rate of local residents toward green travel services stood at 95.1 percent last year.

Wuxi is currently home to four subway lines with a total length of 111.12 kilometers, and two intercity rails and a fifth subway line are under construction.

More than 3,000 buses, 86.79 percent of which are new energy and clean energy vehicles, are operating on the 310 routes in the city.

The city has also adjusted 119 bus routes to make transferring between bus and subway more convenient and arranged more shared bikes around bus and subway stations.

People with a Wuxi bus card can enjoy a free ride when changing from a bus to another means of transportation within 90 minutes.
