Beijing targets at 5.5% up in consumption in 2023

Beijing targets at increasing its total consumption by 5.5 percent year-on-year in 2023, giving full play to the market capacity advantage of the megacity, said Yin Yong, the acting mayor of the Chinese capital during an interview with Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday.

"The city will strive to restore the consumption industries such as accommodation, catering, transportation and tourism to the level of 2019 this year," he said.

Meanwhile, the city's investment in fixed assets will increase by more than 4 percent.

Beijing will further promote the construction of building itself into a city of international consumption and effectively drive the investment of the whole society through government investment and policy incentives, according to Yin.

The city will also make greater efforts to promote the development of the digital economy. For this, the city plans to promote the related new infrastructure construction and accelerate the establishment of blockchain and AI public computing platforms.
