The first intelligent shared charging system was recently put into operation in Xidong New City, Xishan district, Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province.

The charging system consists of guide rails, electric control connectors, shared charging piles, and a robot. It takes just one to two minutes to charge a car.

After parking a car in the parking lot, the owner can log onto a mini program to enter their parking space number.

A robot will then be instructed to deliver the shared charging pile to the designated parking space and the owner just needs to plug in the charger.

"The robot allows the number of charging piles to be reduced," said an employee of Wuxi Haizhi Real Estate Co Ltd, where the intelligent charging system is operating.

Because the system is shared, if there are too many electric vehicles in the parking lot, they need to add more chargers instead of charging piles, according to Xu Yunhao from the power supply service center in Xishan district.

Wuxi plans to build more intelligent shared charging systems in the district to bring convenience to EV owners.
