The 2022 Maritime Silk-Road International Forum and Asian Tourism Industry Annual Conference was held on Dec 28 in Nansha. With the theme of "Fusion and Development: Towards a World-class Tourism Destination", the forum discussed the new trends, new patterns and new momentum of the development of the cultural tourism industry.

The conditions for economic and cultural exchanges in Nansha are very convenient. The city is located in the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which is 38 nautical miles from Hong Kong and 41 nautical miles from Macao, and is situated at the intersection of four trillion-level gross domestic product (GDP) cities (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Foshan).

In recent years, Nansha's development and opening-up have reached a new level in an all-round way, and it has become the only State-level new area in Guangdong province and the largest area in the Guangdong pilot free trade zone. In 2021, the total economic volume exceeded 200 billion yuan ($29 billion), and the per capita GDP exceeded 240,000 yuan.

The relevant person in charge of bureau of culture, radio, television, tourism and sports of Nansha district introduced that Nansha strives to build an international tourism destination in the Greater Bay Area.
