Suzhou shopping festivals to promote consumption

The 2022 Suzhou Winter Car Shopping Festival and the Suzhou New District Shopping Festival of the 3rd Double 12 Suzhou Shopping Festival kicked off on Dec 15.

The shopping events will focus on promoting car sales, 18 themed markets, and over 60 consumption promotions for shopping centers, home building materials, catering, cultural tourism, nighttime economy, time-honored brands, seasonal food, and digital renminbi.

The festival will run for two months, with more than 1,000 merchants in SND participating.

In addition, over 100 auto companies in Suzhou will organize more than 300 special activities to launch measures such as car purchase coupons, car maintenance coupons, and gifts with a cumulative value of over 2 billion yuan ($286.89 million).

In order to promote consumption and economic recovery, SND has been working to optimize its consumption structure and create new types of consumption.

From January to October this year, the district's total retail sales of social consumer goods saw a growth rate of 0.3 percent yearly to 52.04 billion yuan. In the first 11 months of 2022, the total retail sales of social consumer goods achieved by units above designated size in SND increased by 2.7 percent year-on-year to 23.56 billion yuan.
