The Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone – which is located in Taizhou, the prefecture-level city in East China's Jiangsu province – was founded in February 2002 and it was subsequently approved as a provincial development zone in April 2006.

At present, the zone has set up a high-end equipment manufacturing industry park to develop automobiles, their key components, advanced-technology ships, high-end equipment manufacturing and the premium-quality food and beverage business.

The zone has formed a modern production and supply ecosystem, with its focus on high-end equipment manufacturing and food and beverages.

Currently, it is home to 76 companies above a designated size – those with annual sales of 20 million yuan ($2.8 million) or more – as well as 35 high-tech businesses, 42 foreign-funded enterprises and 40 enterprises operated by stock market-listed groups.

A number of key manufacturers have also settled there – including Great Wall Motor, Wanxiang Precision Industry, Pengling Hose, Uni-president Enterprise from Taiwan, Tong Yi Industrial, Unity Supermarket, Toko Food from Japan and China Resources Snow Breweries.

Among the 92 provincial-level development zones, the Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone has remained in top place for three consecutive years and it is currently striving to become a national economic development zone.

To date, the zone has established a national intellectual property pilot park, a national science and technology business incubator and a national crowdsourcing space.
