The Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Education officially approved the construction of 10 future industry science parks in China on Nov 28. One of the selected parks is the Optoelectronic and Medical Equipment Future Industry Science Park. It will be jointly built by the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China) and Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

The two ministries urged that the future industry science park needs to establish a work mechanism that involves the joint construction and efforts of local governments, enterprises and universities. One of the park's major tasks will be to bring in and cultivate leading sci-tech figures and innovative research teams.

All 10 parks are expected to boost the integration of disciplines, tackle core technologies, develop a new innovation system to accelerate the basic science research and technology transfers, and incubate a group of fast-growing sic-tech small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Optoelectronic and Medical Equipment Future Industry Science Park will then make full use of the preferential provincial, municipal and district-level policies, establish a coordinated work mechanism for the government, university, leading enterprise and science park, and focus on fostering talents, innovation and industries, to become more internationally competent and influential.
