Wuhan new energy industry among top 5 in China

The Hurun Research Institute released a list of top 50 cities in China with the most intensive new energy industry. Wuhan in Central China's Hubei province ranked fourth on the list, and third in terms of new energy industrial investment.

In addition, the five cities which have gathered the most high-quality new energy enterprises are Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Tianjin and Suzhou, while five cities which have attracted the most new energy small and medium-sized new energy firms are Shenzhen, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Suzhou.

The strength of the new energy industry is deemed as an important barometer when measuring a region's high-tech development level, and is expected to become the next global battleground. Almost all developed economies have developed the industry to further adjust their industrial structure.

Wuhan is China's largest inland hub capable of road, water and air transportation, and is an undeniable powerhouse in China's automobile manufacturing landscape.

The "Wuhan-Xiangyang-Shiyan-Suizhou" advanced manufacturing cluster led by the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone is among the largest of its kind in China. WEDZ is home to nine carmakers and 13 automobile manufacturing factories, with its new energy vehicle penetration rate reaching 13.3 percent.

In addition, Wuhan was one of the first cities in China to begin developing a hydrogen energy industry, and it is now striving to strengthen its hydrogen industrial chain.
