Despite the increasingly complex international environment and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Guangzhou's Huangpu district remains an attractive hotspot for foreign investment.

In the 2021 assessment and evaluation of the comprehensive development level of national economic development zones conducted by the Ministry of Commerce, Huangpu ranked first in five major economic indicators, including the actual utilization of foreign capital and fiscal revenue.

From January to September this year, the district had 154 newly established foreign-funded enterprises, while its actual utilization of foreign capital exceeded $2.2 billion, an increase of 14.4 percent year-on-year.

Huangpu is one of the areas with the highest concentration of foreign-funded enterprises in South China, with a growing number of foreign-funded enterprises settling in the district.

By the end of 2021, there were more than 4,400 foreign-funded enterprises in Huangpu, and a total of 299 Fortune 500 enterprises (projects) were established by 128 of the world's top 500 companies, including 78 foreign-funded Fortune Global 500 enterprises setting up 179 enterprises (projects) in the district.

From August to October this year, many world-renowned companies, such as Thermo Fisher Scientific, have carried out their investment projects, such as innovation centers and regional bases. They have also actively promoted cooperation with enterprises in the district to seize development opportunities in Huangpu.

Huangpu is moving towards developing an international business environment and is striving to become a global investment destination.
