Hechi has invested 33.92 billion yuan ($4.79 billion ) in bolstering its transportation infrastructure from January to October, up 11.4 percent year-on-year, according to statistics supplied by its municipal bureau of transportation.

Of this sum, 28.54 billion yuan was invested in highway construction, accounting for 84.1 percent of the city's comprehensive transportation investment. In fact, spending on traffic-related projects has become the main force driving the city's economic growth.

The bureau has been coordinating pandemic prevention efforts this year while also focusing on the city's economic and social development, and making renewed efforts to shore up transport-related construction projects.

The bureau has also made strides in terms of getting approval for land and forestry usage to guarantee the new construction projects. So far, the Laibin to Du'an section of the Hezhou-Bama Expressway, the Pingtang to Tian'e section of the Tian'e-Beihai Expressway and other five highways as well as three ordinary highway project land permits have been approved.

Hechi municipal bureau of transportation, in conjunction with the financial, development and reform departments, has applied for the city's local government bond funds of 2.18 billion yuan from the autonomous region, alleviating the pressure of raising money for such projects.

Hechi's highway mileage will reach 820 kilometers this year and see total investment reach 29.61 billion yuan.  As such, Tian'e county will turn a new page by finally welcoming its first highway.
