The Lin-gang pilot zone of the Shanghai digital trade international hub was established on Nov 8 at the first Shanghai Forum on Digital Trade, held in the Changning district of East China's Shanghai.

Paving the way for the development was a new type of super-efficient internet exchange center, which came into operation in December 2021 in the Lin-gang Special Area – laying a solid foundation for a major boost to its innovative internet development.

As the only one in the eastern coastal region, the internet exchange center is able to help lower operating costs for resident businesses with internet access. It is a centralized switching platform connecting different networks, which can realize "one-point access, multi-point connectivity".

As such, it functions like roadway overpasses and roundabouts on the information superhighway.

Based on the internet exchange center, Lin-gang will build special channels for international internet data, so as to become a pilot zone of the Shanghai digital trade international hub with an efficient allocation of factors, complete infrastructure and sound trade functions.
