Q: Where in China can the Great Wall be seen?

A: Sections of the Great Wall can be found in 404 counties (cities and districts) in 18 provincial administrative units (provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities).

They are Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan and Qinghai provinces, as well as the Ningxia Hui, Inner Mongolia, and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous regions.

China has 43,721 Great Wall sites.These include 10,051 wall sections, 1,764 trenches, 29,510 single structures, 2,211 passes and forts, and 185 other sites. The total length of the wall’s remains is 21,196.18 kilometers. The wall dates back about 2,000 years.
