The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has continued to make efforts to improve the lives of struggling residents.

According to information from the city's civil affairs bureau, Ordos has delegated the authority to review and confirm subsistence allowances, extremely poverty-stricken people, and temporary assistance to townships and sub-districts.

All 992 villages and communities in the city are equipped with social assistance workers who conduct proactive investigations, determine who needs assistance, and help those in need apply for social assistance.

Also, the bureau has continued to promote dynamic monitoring of low-income populations, including subsistence allowances, people in extreme poverty, and families living on the edge of subsistence allowances.

Eligible people will be included in the city's living allowance scope or be provided with temporary assistance.

What's more, the bureau has considered factors such as per capita consumption expenditure of residents, per capita disposable income, and urban and rural planning to reasonably improve social assistance standards and provide subsidies to people in need.

As of the end of September this year, Ordos had issued a total of 132 million yuan in urban and rural subsistence allowances, benefiting 26,862 people.

Another 61.16 million yuan in support funds for urban and rural extremely poverty-stricken people was issued, benefiting 5,007 people.

Also, 17.01 million yuan in temporary relief funds was issued to help 8,400 people.

In July, a one-time living allowance of 3.22 million yuan was issued to poverty-stricken residents.
