Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province hosted a conference in Beijing, capital of China, on Sept 2, to seek sci-tech cooperation with local institutions and enterprises.

The city secured 74 cooperation agreements worth 20.23 billion yuan ($3.37 billion) during the conference, involving new-generation information technology, intelligent equipment, and new energy.

Academician Gu Dongfeng, Xu Zhihan, chairman of Maxscend Microelectronics Co Ltd, and Huang Jie, chairman of China Reform Fund Management Co Ltd, shared their cooperation experience with Wuxi.

They expressed appreciation for Wuxi's attraction of innovative resources in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. They also hold that with a favorable and innovative business environment, the city should strengthen sci-tech exchanges and cooperation with Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.

In recent years, Wuxi has been adhering to an innovation-driven development strategy and developing strong industries in an effort to increase its international influence in innovation and industrial development.

In 2021, the output value of high-tech industries in Wuxi accounted for 49.2 percent of the total among all industries above designated size, and the city is now home to 10 100-billion-yuan ($14.45 billion) industrial clusters.

Wuxi has also established major innovation platforms such as the National Supercomputing (Wuxi) Center and innovation facilities including the Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer and Fendouzhe submersible.
