The products are of high quality and can be conveniently transported to global clients by sea and air, Clark added.

Air transportation in Dalian has been enhanced over the past decade. The Dalian International Airport has 255 air routes to link 123 cities at home and abroad. Its maximum passenger throughput in one year was more than 20 million, according to the airport's officials.

The city has established an international air transport network for cargo covering China, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia and other regions.

The city's new airport on an offshore artificial island saw its construction enter the fast lane, according to Sun Gang, deputy general manager of Dalian International Airport. He noted that more than 55 percent of the artificial island's protective embankment project has been completed.

He said the artificial island is 6.2 kilometers long and 3.5 km wide. The shortest distance between it and the coast is 3 km.

It has become more convenient to clear goods through customs in Dalian. Dalian Port has opened 126 berths for international trade, accounting for 86 percent of its total. The services of these berths cover containers, liquefied natural gas, crude oil, grain and coal, as well as other bulk goods.
