Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has been pursuing high-quality industrial development over the past decade.

From 2012 to 2021, the output value of industries above designated size in the city increased from 1.45 trillion yuan ($212.63 billion) to 2.14 trillion yuan, while the added value grew from 305.69 billion yuan to 492.64 billion yuan.

Wuxi boasts large-scale high-quality traditional industries, making it easier for the city to achieve rapid development.

In addition, Wuxi started exploring the development of internet of things as early as 2009. The city is currently home to more than 3,000 IoT enterprises with a combined annual output of 356.39 billion yuan, making it a hub of IoT industries in China.

Wuxi has also formulated a cluster development model for its competitive industries, including both traditional and emerging industries.

Statistics show that in 2021, the city's 16 key industrial clusters generated 1.76 trillion yuan in prime operating revenue, up about 21 percent year-on-year.

Among the 16 industrial clusters, the IoT industrial cluster was listed among the nationally advanced manufacturing industrial clusters. Next-generation information technology, biomedicine and other emerging industries have become pillar industries in Wuxi.

Over the past decade, Wuxi has also been pursuing intelligent reconstruction, digital transformation, and eco-friendly upgrading in industrial development.

After 10 years of effort, the city's energy consumption per 10,000 yuan of GDP has decreased from 0.56 in 2012 to 0.28 metric tons of standard coal in 2021.
