Baotou zone creates high-quality rare earth industry

Relying on technological innovation and rare earth resources, the Baotou Rare Earth Industrial and Development Zone has improved industry cluster and ecological development in recent years.

The zone gives full play to the scientific research resources of the Baotou Rare Earth Research Institute, Shanghai Jiaotong University Baotou Materials Research Institute, Bayan Obo State Key Laboratory of Rare Earth Resources Research and Comprehensive Utilization and other platforms, implementing core technologies in key fields.

The pilot line of rare-earth ferroalloy developed by the Baotou Rare Earth Research Institute, with an annual output of 1,200 metric tons, has been evaluated twice.

With the growing maturity of rare earth ferroalloy preparation technology, rare earth steel have been successively applied to national key projects such as Daxing International Airport and Lalin Railway, the first electrified railway in Tibet.

"More and more enterprises are listed on the science and technology innovation board, which not only reflects the scientific and technological innovation strength of the rare earth industry in the zone, but also lays a solid foundation for the accelerated development of enterprises," the relevant person in charge of the zone said.
