Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has experienced robust and dynamic economic development over the past 10 years, Wuxi Daily reported.

The city's GDP increased from 0.7568 trillion yuan ($112.1 billion) in 2012 to 1.4 trillion yuan in 2021, the total output of industries above designated size in the city grew from 1.45 trillion yuan in 2012 to 2.14 trillion yuan in 2021, and over the past decade, 1,755 industrial enterprises above designated size started operating in the city.

In 2021, Wuxi led the country with a per capita GDP of 187,400 yuan and led Jiangsu in the number of top 500 Chinese enterprises. Its foreign trade exceeded $100 billion and its general public budget revenue reached 120.05 billion yuan in the same year.

All these achievements are due to Wuxi's development strategy to build a strong city with competitive industries.

Over the past decade, Wuxi had been focusing on the development of a modern industrial hub for strategic emerging industries, advanced manufacturing, and modern services.

In 2021, the total output of strategic emerging sectors above designated size in the city's manufacturing industry amounted to 852.92 billion yuan, accounting for 39.9 percent of the output of industries above designated size, while the modern service industry accounted for 55 percent of the service industry's overall added value.

Over the following decade, Wuxi will intensify the development of industrial clusters and industrial innovation platforms and shine a spotlight on the digital industry.
