Primary and middle school students in East China's Jiangsu province have gained more knowledge about intangible cultural heritage during summer vacation.

A group of third graders from Tianzheng Primary School in Nanjing recently visited Jinling Gold Foil Group in the city to learn about gold foil making technique, a national-level intangible cultural heritage item.

Ge Caijin, a senior artisan working for the group, told the students the entire production process comprises 12 procedures. He also showed them how to turn a gram of pure gold into a piece of gold foil that is one ten thousandth of a millimeter thick.

Students also learned how to cover a small gourd with gold foil using glue and brushes.

The Wuxi Museum has offered tie-dye classes to students during summer vacation. Students can create a work of art in the class with easily available materials including marbles, threads, a piece of cloth and dye made from isatis roots.
