The only world-level geopark in Guizhou province, the Zhijin Cave was opened to the public in 1985. It has a subtropical plateau climate with a constant internal temperature of between 10 to 16 C, andboasts the largest and most well-developed karst landforms found so far in China. The cave integrates different functions, including scientific research popularization, sightseeing and entertainment.

The Zhijin Cave Scenic Area has a comprehensive karst system with multiple strata and types of composition and features. Divided into four layers, the cave has been surveyed at 12.1 kilometers in length, with a maximum span of 175 meters of a single cavity and 150 meters in relative height difference. The total area of the cave is more than 700,000 square meters divided into 12 cavities, which are given such appealing names as the “Welcome Room”, “Talin Palace” and “Lingxiao Hall”. With great geological and aesthetic value, the Zhijin Cave enjoys the highest distribution density and richest types of stalactites. It is filled with more than forty kinds of deposits, including stalagmites, stalagnates and clints. The breathtaking karst landscapes paint the cave as an “Underground Art Treasure House" and a "Karst Museum".
