Jinhua Museum launched a series of cultural and creative products on Aug 2 based on two cultural treasures of the Song Dynasty (960-1279) collected at the museum.

Local inheritors of intangible cultural heritage items mixed embroidery methods and special patterns of the two cultural treasures - the "Huzhou Xu Yongming's double-fish pattern mirror" and the "sunflower-shaped intertwining twig-branch pattern silver box".

The cultural and creative products included home textiles, sachets and snacks featuring the double-fish pattern and intertwining twig-branch pattern. Both the two patterns are meant to represent people's yearning for a better life.

Fish are an important symbol associated with Spring Festival and are embodied in the Chinese parable Nian Nian You Yu, which is an expression representing the hope that every year ends with an ample surplus of food for all families.

The intertwining twig-branch pattern is a type of plant pattern featuring many flower branches and leaves. It is called the flower of longevity and wealth, as its branches have no end.

Xu Wei, director of the Jinhua Museum, said that the museum has been making efforts to preserve Song culture and produce unique cultural and creative products to present the characters of Jinhua. More products and cultural exhibitions will be held in the second half of the year.
