The World Intellectual Property Organization announced the five first-ever winners of its new Global Awards program on July 19, recognizing their dedication to using intellectual property to make a positive impact at home and abroad.

Among the five winning small and medium-sized enterprises from China, Japan, the Netherlands and Singapore was Raycan Technology Co (Suzhou), based in Suzhou New District, which specializes in the development and production of radiation detection and imaging equipment.

The company, founded in 2009, has grown into the leader of all-digital radiation detection and imaging technology through independent research and development. It has applied for and obtained over 100 patents in the United States, Germany, Japan and other countries.

A total of 272 companies from 62 countries have applied for the Global Awards program, which was initiated by WIPO for the first time to celebrate innovative commercial solutions based on IP rights and promote economic, social and cultural progress.
