The East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) held a launch ceremony for projects to be carried out during the third quarter of this year.
The 74 investment projects involved a total investment of 40.6 billion yuan ($6 billion), doubling the amount in the second quarter, and including 53 infrastructure projects and 21 social welfare projects.
The newly-launched road network construction projects will fully connect the main streets of the East Lake Science City, and strengthen the connection between Wuhan and Ezhou.
The western neighbor center to be built in the Optics Valley Central City will be OVC's first one-stop intelligent experience-oriented social service complex providing government, business, cultural, sports, medical and educational services. The newly-launched Optics Valley Bookstore on the Optics Valley Ecological Corridor is expected to be put into use by the end of this year, and will house about 20,000 books.
The valley has achieved its semi-annual goal in terms of infrastructure investment.
