Located in Baotou city of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, the Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone is China's only national zone with a "rare earth" designation.
In 2021, the zone achieved a regional GDP of 47.08 billion yuan ($7.5 billion), up 10.2 percent y-o-y. It also topped Baotou city with an average growth rate of 7.3 percent over the last two years.
