Guangzhou recently issued a report that offered incentives to 44 units that achieved remarkable results in implementing the city's work deployment measures, local media outlets reported on July 12.

Huangpu district won 15 of the 27 incentives, ranking first in the city for the second consecutive year.

A vital engine propelling the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Huangpu was the only district to win the incentive for developing strategic emerging industries.

At present, Huangpu has attracted over 100 major projects in various industries like the integrated circuit industry and the new energy vehicle industry, making it the first national-level demonstrative base of the green industry in Guangzhou.

Huangpu ranked first citywide in land use efficiency, such as building "skyscraper" factories and reforming old villages. The total area of nationalized industries in operation and construction reaches about 5.6 million square meters in the district, while the average GDP of the land is estimated to reach 13 billion yuan ($2 billion) per square kilometer, which leads the country by a significant margin.

Moreover, the report noted that Huangpu, whose technological innovation capability has ranked first among national economic development zones for three consecutive years, is home to three of the four incubation parks winning incentives.

With leading innovation teams accounting for 70 percent and start-up teams accounting for 60 percent of Guangzhou's total respectively, Huangpu has attracted more than 30 new research and development institutions, 1,256 high-level talents, as well as over 3,500 high-tech enterprises.
