Wuxi, a competitive manufacturing center in East China's Jiangsu province, has been aiming for a role model in digital transformation.

In the first quarter of this year, 1,324 digital economy companies above a designated size in the city generated nearly 145.58 billion yuan ($21.72 billion) in revenue, up 15.2 percent year-on-year.

Since the State Council approved Wuxi to build a National Sensor Network Innovation Demonstration Zone in 2009, the city has introduced more than 110 companies involved in the design, manufacturing, packaging and testing of sensors. In 2021, the operating income of these companies exceeded 16.73 billion yuan.

Take the Wuxi Brilliant Boton Conveyor Services Co in Wuxi New District for example. The company is reshaping the conveyor manufacturing sector via digital technologies.

The company's workshops, covering an area of nearly 89,000 square meters, are equipped with intelligent logistics and storage systems to achieve automatic manufacturing, which can be monitored via the control center in the office area.

The district is also home to two "Lighthouses", world-class advanced factories, and three national role models in intelligent manufacturing.

This year, Wuxi has detailed a three-year plan to carry out digital transformation from 2022 to 2024 and will increase its fiscal and financial support for companies that seek transformation and upgrading.
