A white marble relief carving dating to the Five Dynasties (907-960) depicts a band giving a musical performance. Its exquisite carving and smooth lines vividly present 12 women playing different musical instruments, one male conductor and two short dancers.

The 15 plump figures on the 136-centimeter-long and 82-centimeter-high relief play music, revealing a form of entertainment from more than 1,000 years ago.

Excavated from an ancient tomb in the Xiyanchuan village of Quyang county, Hebei province in 1995, the relief is a treasure in the permanent collection of the Hebei Museum.
