A round gold foil ornament with sun and bird motifs is known as the emblem of Chinese cultural relics. This tiny ring-like foil features 12 sun rays surrounded by four flying birds.
The design embodies ancient Chinese people’s recognition of natural laws and pursuit of light, freedom and eternity. It is also a reflection of the superb gold crafts in use more than 3,000 years ago.
Excavated from the Jinsha site in Chengdu, Sichuan province in 2001, the gold foil ornament reveals ancient Shu State people’s wisdom and is one of the nine national treasures of China. It is now in the permanent collection of the Jinsha Site Museum.
