Wuxiers able to place orders to Sam's Club this month

Sam's Club, a membership warehouse supermarket under the management of US retail giant Walmart, will open a cloud warehouse in Wuxi Economic Development Zone on May 26.

Wuxi residents will be able to place orders for more han 1,000 daily necessities, including fresh food, maternity and baby products, personal care products, and dried food, from the cloud warehouse.

Sam's Club's members will also be able to enjoy an efficient one-hour delivery service, which the supermarket operates through an alliance with delivery firm Dada-JD Daojia.

By the end of this year, the first outlet of Sam's Club in the city will open to Sam's members.

With an overall floorage of 75,300 square meters and a total investment of over 600 million yuan ($88.32 million), the Sam's Club store in Wuxi will be a high-end warehouse supermarket capable of satisfying the diverse demands of local residents.

It will also come with a 1,000-space intelligent parking lot exclusively for its members.

According to a staff member from Sam's Club, each Sam's Club store has a shopping space of 20,000 sq m and offers nearly 4,000 products, which are either sourced locally or from over 30 countries and regions.

To create a more unique shopping experience, Sam's Club will set up interactive zones, including Sam's kitchen, allowing chefs to showcase the cooking process based on food products available in store, in its Wuxi outlet.

Walmart introduced the membership format in China in 1996 in Shenzhen and now has 36 stores and more than four million members nationwide.

By the end of 2022, Sam's Club is expected to have a total of 40 to 45 stores in operation or under construction in the country.
