Jinchengjiang plants herbs to increase farmers' income

At the beginning of this year, Hechi's Jinchengjiang district started to build a Chinese herbal medicine planting demonstration project under a walnut forest. The project involves a lysimachia planting area spanning 5,000 mu (333.3 hectares) in Muyou village, with a planned investment of 50 million yuan.

The base leased the walnut forest land for local residents and hired them to work. To date, more than 2,000 mu of land has been transferred, 1,000 mu of land has been leveled, and more than 1,000 mu of planting has been completed. After the project was launched, it have provided work to over 60 people from the surrounding areas, while more than 400,000 yuan ($59,397) in labor costs have been paid.

In recent years, Jinchengjiang has vigorously developed the under-forest economy, covering under-forest planting, aquaculture, forest product collection and processing, as well as forest sightseeing, which has played an important role in rural economic growth and improving people's livelihoods.
