A record 15 patents from Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, won the 23rd China Patent Award, according to the municipal market supervision bureau.

The 15 listed patents have generated 18.73 billion yuan ($2.88 billion) in operating revenue and brought in 5.44 billion yuan in profits and 1.26 billion yuan in exports.

These patents involve intelligent equipment, biological medicine, integrated circuits, mechanical automation, next-generation information and communication technology, new materials and environmental protection.

The deep-sea manned underwater vehicle developed by the China Ship Scientific Research Center won the Chinese Design Gold Medal, and the patent has become a symbol of China's manned deep-sea submersibles.

The E6 electrocar developed by Yadea Technology Group Co, a major manufacturer of two-wheeled electric vehicles based in Wuxi, won the Chinese Design Outstanding Award.

E6 has been well-received by consumers with its suspended headlamp, one-piece aluminium alloy handle, and keyless ignition. The vehicle is also capable of driving more than 200 kilometers on a single charge.

Yadea currently owns 17 patents involving structural and technological improvement, which generated another nearly 900 million yuan in sales revenue and about 100 million yuan in profits.

According to the market supervision bureau, 79,738 patents were granted to Wuxi companies and institutions last year, ranking third in the province and up 31.36 percent on a yearly basis.

There were nearly 50 invention patents for every 10,000 residents in the city in 2021, nine more than the provincial average.
