SAIC Motor, China's largest automaker, began stress tests at its plants in Shanghai on April 18, with the first vehicle rolling off the restarted assembly line on April 19. The group said that manufacturers of automobile parts and components at SAIC Motor's Lin-gang base have also restarted production amid the current COVID-19 outbreak.

SAIC said it will develop a work plan based on a thorough analysis of the test results and the pandemic's local situation.

As of April 23, more than 700 vehicles had rolled off the production line at SAIC Motor's Lin-gang base, according to official data.
