Intelligent manufacturing boosts industrial output in WND

The Wuxi National Hi-tech District obtained the highest scores in terms of mature intelligent manufacturing capabilities in the recently released 2021 edition of the Jiangsu Province Intelligent Manufacturing Development Index Report.

The report was based on in-depth analysis of production and operation data and public data of nearly 5,000 manufacturing enterprises in Jiangsu province.

Statistics show that in 2021, total industrial output value above designated size in WND reached 555.46 billion yuan ($87.24 billion), a year-on-year increase of 22.1 percent and a two-year compound growth rate of 14.8 percent, accounting for 26 percent of the city's total.

The industrial added value above designated size at current prices reached 162.99 billion yuan, with a comparable price growth rate of 16.5 percent. This accounted for 33.1 percent of the city's total, contributing 40 percent to the city's added value growth.

WND has long been at the forefront of the country in the development of the intelligent manufacturing industry. In 2021, WND was recognized for its remarkable achievements in the innovation, transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry in Jiangsu province. It is the only national high-tech zone in the country with two lighthouse factories and three national model enterprises in intelligent manufacturing.

By 2025, the added value of core industries in the digital economy in WND is expected to reach 80 billion yuan, accounting for more than 18 percent of GDP, according to officials.
