The annual Suzhou Shushan Pear Blossom Culture and Tourism Festival opened online on April 3, inviting visitors from across the globe to enjoy the city's idyllic charms on the cloud.

Lynn, a virtual character dressed in traditional Chinese clothing, was created to help promote the culture and tourist attractions of Shushan village on the same day.

The entire Shushan village scenic area also went digital with the help of drones and 3D real scene reconstruction technologies, enabling visitors to take real-time, interactive trips to the village.

Suzhou New District has been inspired by COVID-19-induced travel restrictions to find new ways to promote its culture and tourist attractions.

The district is currently working to develop digital scenic spots and will offer up more virtual reality games, livestream shows and virtual characters to boost its international image.
