Despite the resurgence of COVID-19, the Xushuguan Economic Development Zone in Suzhou New District, East China's Jiangsu province has nevertheless been making strides in industrial development.

Fukushin Electric (Suzhou) Co, the subsidiary of a 60-year-old Japanese company, is one example of how the zone is bolstering development amid the pandemic.

Established in SND in 2013, the company recently received approval to build a new intelligent plant for research and development, and manufacturing. The plant, which represents a 120 million yuan ($18.85 million) investment, will be completed by the end of this year and be put into operation in 2023.

Meanwhile, the upgrading of the life science industry base of Thermo Fisher Scientific is in full swing and will be completed in November. The base, which is expected to become operational in the first quarter of next year, will be the largest life science industrial base of a global top 500 enterprise in Asia Pacific.

The facility will be used mainly for the production of in vitro diagnostic reagents, biopharmaceutical related products, and consumables in the field of life science.
