Luoping county, Yunnan province
Best viewing period: From February to March
Boasting favorable weather and a unique ecological environment, Luoping county in Southwest China’s Yunnan province is home to the world-renowned rapeseed flowers. Every year from February to March, the flowers are in full bloom, forming a beautiful and magnificent golden vista.
From the mountain top, tourists can have a fantastic view of the Yudai Lake, the Lashan Lake, and the Wanzi Lake, which appear like three shining mirrors in the sea. Villages and the peak forest of the Jinji Mountains constitute a stunning picture. The karst landform makes for a unique pastoral scenery.
In 2002, the sea of rapeseed flowers in Luoping was awarded as “the world’s largest natural garden” by the Shanghai China Records Headquarters. In 2005, the peak forest of the Jinji Mountains in Luoping was dubbed “the most beautiful peak forest in China” by the Geographical Society of China.
