Bald cypress trees in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, have turned red after cold air swept down from the north over the past week, forming a red line in most parks and wetlands in the city.

The bald cypress, which is native to North America, is noted for the russet-red color of its needle-like leaves, which first turn yellow in autumn, then turn copper red, and finally fall off in the cold of winter.

The changing colors in a bald cypress forest usually last for about one month, presenting one of the country's most beautiful landscapes of the year.
