Xinwu district, Wuxi was recently selected as a national pilot site for recycled water allocation, making it the only pilot area around Taihu Lake in Jiangsu province.

Xinwu district has upgraded or built three sewage plants, including the Xincheng Water Treatment Plant in order to bring its water quality to Class III national standards for surface water.

The district has provided services to 20 companies to provide advanced sewage treatment and reclaimed water reuse services. The daily usage of recycled water has reached 32,000 tons.

The amount of tail water resource utilization continues to grow, including ecological water uses such as enterprise reuse, greening irrigation, wetland replenishment, and river replenishment.

Enterprises using high-quality recycled water will receive support in EIA approval and water price collection, and enterprises using quasi-three types of tail water will only be charged 0.1-0.2 yuan (1 cent) per ton of water.

Xinwu district has also established a recycled water utilization model and industrial applications that conform to regional characteristics according to the district's plan of a water-saving society.
