Over the past year, Chengdu and Chongqing in Southwest China have completed a total of 67 major collaboration programs, achieving 103.09 billion yuan ($16.29 billion) in investment, according to news report by Chongqing Daily on Feb 28.

The two cities will continue to devote themselves to the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle endeavor and plan to initiate 160 major programs involving over 2 trillion yuan in investment this year.

Overall plans for eight out of the 10 cooperation platforms for Chengdu, Chongqing and their surrounding areas have been released, including the reform of the separation of administrative areas and economic zones, regional integrated development, high-tech industries in modern agriculture, and the fusion of culture and tourism.

Other work plans issued jointly by the two governments target automobiles, electronic information, manufacturing, industrial internet, and port logistic systems.

Chengdu and Chongqing have created a collaboration mechanism in which key projects and matters are discussed by the two sides and cadres are exchanged.

Chongqing will seize upon the opportunity by deepening supply-side structural reforms, strengthening its role in the Belt and Road Initiative, and shouldering its responsibility as a city in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River to develop green industries, foster an eco-friendly culture, and consolidate ecological defenses for the river.
