Huangpu's infrastructure input hit record high

According to the Huangpu Finance Bureau, the district allocated 28.57 billion yuan ($4.49 billion) for government-invested projects in 2021. From that, the expenditure on infrastructure construction hit a record high of 27.41 billion yuan.

A government bond of 7.36 billion yuan was issued to support major industrial platforms including the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City and the Guangzhou Science City. Construction of a human cell lineage project and a scientific facility related to aircraft tire dynamics were also advanced with a fund of 311 million yuan.

A fund of 6.14 billion yuan were spent on transport construction including seven metros, three tram lines, 15 expressways, and four express roads. Another 343 million yuan was used to push forward the construction of a smart transportation network for autonomous driving vehicles.

In addition, a fund of 738 million yuan was allocated to push forward the micro-renovation of 39 old residential communities and the construction of 17 demonstrative residential communities and six relocation areas.

In terms of livelihood, Huangpu allocated 1.29 billion yuan to support the construction, renovation, and expansion of 102 schools, as well as 730 million yuan to advance the construction, renovation, and expansion of 19 hospitals.  

A fund of 230 million yuan was used to advance local ecological construction, which involved the renovation and upgrading of five water purification plants and landscape improvement of 12 parks.
