Wuxi pursues digital intelligent transformation

Wuxi's total industrial output above designed size was 2.14 trillion yuan ($335.97 billion) in 2021, according to official data from the local bureau of statistics.

The city's industries have been pursuing digital intelligent transformation to boost their strength during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020). In 2020, the total industrial output of strategic emerging industries in Wuxi was 614.05 billion yuan (about $96.6 billion), an increase of 11.5 percentage points over 2015, which accounted for 34.9 percent of the total industrial output value above designated size.

In 2021, 4,410 industrial projects in Wuxi promoted digital intelligence. Wuxi is now home to three National Intelligent Manufacturing Benchmarking Enterprises and the only five-star industrial internet platform service provider in Jiangsu province.

The Wuxi municipal bureau of industry and information technology spent 26.6 billion yuan (about $4.2 billion) supporting the digital intelligent transformation of industrial manufacturing in 2021.

The city also promoted industry-university-research cooperation in innovation and established the Jiangsu Center of the National Digital Design and Manufacturing Innovation Center and the Jiangsu Branch of the China Intelligent Manufacturing System Solution Provider Alliance. In addition, the city cooperated with Huawei and other leading IT manufacturers to promote digital intelligence.

According to officials, Wuxi will release a three-year action plan in January to accelerate digital, intelligent and green transformation to reduce costs, consumption and carbon in the manufacturing industry.
