According to the statistics of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), the Chinese foreign exchange market (excluding foreign currency pairs, the same below) recorded total transactions of 24.11 trillion yuan ($3.79 trillion) in December 2021.
In terms of markets, the transactions volume of client market was 3.65 trillion yuan ($0.57 trillion), and the transactions volume of interbank market was 20.47 trillion yuan ($3.21 trillion). Interms of products, the cumulative transactions volume of the spot market was 8.45 trillion yuan ($1.33 trillion), and that of the derivatives market was 15.67 trillion yuan ($2.46 trillion).
From January to December 2021, a total of 237.79 trillion yuan ($36.87 trillion) was traded in the Chinese foreign exchange market.
