Founded in 1986, Geely Holding Group has focused its core business on the development and production of automobiles since it entered the auto industry in 1997 with its Geely Auto brand.
Headquartered in Hangzhou, Geely Holding today owns and manages a number of brands: Geely Auto, Lynk & Co, ZEEKR, Geometry, Volvo Cars, Polestar, Lotus, London Electric Vehicle Company, Farizon Auto, and Cao Cao Mobility.
On Nov 26, 2021, Geely signed a contract with the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government for strategic cooperation. Geely will base its western headquarters in the city’s Liangjiang New Area, stimulating the area’s development.
Geely will also establish an innovative research institute and an industry-school-research integrated platform, and work with the local government to boost enterprises in the upper and lower reaches of the auto industry to promote Chongqing’s progress in high-tech sectors. This cooperation will allow the Liangjiang New Area to continue to focus on transforming and upgrading automobiles, industrial internet, and sci-tech finance.
In 2020, brands under Geely Auto Group management sold over 1.43 million units, with Geely Auto retaining its position as the best-selling Chinese brand for four consecutive years, Lynk & Co setting a new sales record for six consecutive months, and a revitalized Proton growing 8.8% in spite of a global pandemic.
To date, Geely has launched several projects focusing on high-end new energy vehicles, industrial internet, and finance. It will allocate its global resources to contribute to the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.
