Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co Ltd is an automobile manufacturing company headquartered in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, the capital city of Central China's Hubei province.
Established on July 16, 2003, the company is a 50:50 joint-venture between the Dongfeng Motor Group and the Honda Motor Company.
Dongfeng Honda now has three car factories in the WHDZ.Its third factory project includes the construction of a vehicle factory, an engine factory and a new research and development center, with a total investment of 10.5 billion yuan ($1.53 billion).
With a registered capital of $250 million, the company is the first company in Wuhan's industrial sector to achieve an annual output value of over one hundred billion yuan without owning any subsidiary companies.
As a large-scale industrial manufacturer in Hubei province, Dongfeng Honda boasted an annual output of over 100 billion yuan ($15.66 billion) for more than three years in a row (2018-2020). The company also has independent R&D centers and workshops for advanced crafts.
Dongfeng Honda has seen growth in its annual vehicle outputdespite the impact of COVID-19, with a total of 850,000 vehicles produced in 2020.
One of the major industrial groups in Hubei province, Dongfeng Honda's three plants in the WHDZ had resumed work and production, and were operating at full capacity by late April in 2020.
At that time, their overall production capacity had returned to more than 3,000 vehicles per day, and a new car was rolling off the production line every 50 seconds on average.
In May 2020, Dongfeng Honda continued to produce at full capacity, making 71,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 16.4 percent, with the company's capacity utilization rate being close to 110 percent.
